Today’s feature is the gorgeous and glamorous Nicole of Nicole’s Guide to Style and her equally gorgeous brand new little peanut!

Hudson Duke, 4 weeks old and counting (born January 2, 2013)
nicknames; Hudson Boy, Sweetie Pie, Zoolander and The Rock (my Poppy’s nn for me).
favorite toy; My cat, Nala Riggins, and the Cloud B Sleep Giraffe + Sheep.
what I like to do; Eat, sleep, repeat! I also like to make a lot of noise, especially in the night.
what everyone likes best about me: My hair (I was born with all of it!)… Mom likes to style it in a fauxhawk.
other favorite; Little Hip Squeaks hats, having my picture taken, Dr. Brown’s bottles and my Avent pacifier.

Nicole; 26
best thing about parenting; Being responsible for someone else’s well being and the unconditional love you feel for them. I love waking up to his sweet face everyday (and night) and watching him change from day to day.
hardest part of parenting; Learning how to find balance in your new life and figuring out how to manage your time in a productive way.
advice for other parents; I’m definitely still learning but I think it’s important to go with your gut, Mom and Dad know what’s best for their baby. Also, take pictures everyday, they change too quickly!
favorite item from the LHS shop; We love our hats and blankies from LHS but are looking forward to getting some of the infamous mustache leggings!
Mama & Baby style philosophy; I think it’s important to dress like “your old self” to some extent and take a little time to feel put together each day. Dressing Hudson has been so much fun, it’s like playing dress up everyday! Working in fashion, I like his outfits to coordinate with his accessories for the day (hat, blanket, socks, etc) and I love finding new, up and coming baby lines for him to wear. We love Little Hip Squeaks!

Today we’re thrilled to feature the lovely, sweet and talented Katie of Katie’s Pencil Box as well as her two adorable kiddos. (We maintain that the phrase “I could just eat him/her with a spoon” must have originated due to their extreme cuteness.)

Maddox; 8 1/2 & Phoebe; 6 months
nicknames; Max and Bee
favorite toy; Max- army guys Bee- her sofie giraffe or bla bla knit cat rattle
what I like to do; Max- play my drums and guitar…video games. ride my bike and play basketball! Bee- chew on toes and slobber faces
what everyone likes best about me; Max has a pretty great sense of humor and can cut a mean rug. Bee is known for her chewbacca impersonations and great kisses.
other favorites; Max- adventure time, michael jackson, katy perry, terrible knock knock jokes, break dancing. Bee- patty cake, prince songs, long car rides, not eating food. ever, george from seinfeld

Katie; 30
best thing about parenting; getting to experience “firsts” all over again…watching your little ones do and see and figure out the world for the first time, or even the 20th time, is pretty great!
hardest part of parenting; making tough decisions followed by instant self-doubt with a side of tons of laundry.
advice for other parents; stop to soak up moments. and take tons and tons of pictures!
favorite item from the LHS shop; i love all of the colors and patterns in the shop! our favorite piece though would have to be the baby headbands….pretty and fun without being too girly girl!
Mama & Baby style philosophy; comfort and personality! a lot of kids and baby clothes come in sets (pants that match the shirt that match the jacket)…it’s nice to break things up and mix up pieces to suit your little one.

Today we’re featuring Jahje of Baby Jives Co (which was another amazing business featured on Babble’s Top Etsy Baby Shops!) as well as her two adorable kiddos.

Gavril; 4 years & Elodie; 11 months
nicknames; Gav and Elo / aka Rascal and the Imp / aka Grumpelstiltskin and Mellow Elo
favorite toys; Gavril is into legos and old school transformers right now (we have my brother’s collection from the 80s thanks to grandma) and Elodie’s favorite toy is currently a bowl and whatever she can put into it.
what I like to do; Gavril loves pretend play and every day I wake with an identity crisis until he assigns me my role for the day. Elodie is into creeping under the radar and trying to do whatever she is not supposed to, which is why I found her in a corner eating chalk the other day.
what everyone likes best about me; Gavril and Elodie both have the most infectious laughs and smiles.
other favorites; Gavril loves Dr. Seuss and Dinosaur Train and being read to. Elodie loves singing, she often serenades us – especially when we listen to Regina Spektor.

Jahje Bath Ives; 35
best thing about parenting; getting to giggle a lot and hanging at the playground instead of the office
hardest part of parenting; tantrums and that there is no pause button
advice for other parents; breathe and remember that this too shall pass. Everything changes and you should focus on the positive and ignore the laundry.
favorite item from the LHS shop; I am loving the new headbands particularly the triangle geometric patterned ones. I also love the leggings.
mama & baby style philosophy; Dress the kids like cooler versions of yourself, please don’t ever put them in anything that says “Mama’s little ___”, and stretchy is the only way to go for active kiddos.

Today’s featured Hip Squeaks are our friend Cara from Urban Baby Runway and her adorable son Julian, who gives us a preview of what we can only hope our boys are like in a few years.

Julian Ridley, 7 years – going on 100. (7 1/2 if you ask him)
nickname; Juice
favorite toy; iPad Mini (mom says: grumble, grumble) and legos
what I like to do; Play Minecraft, basketball, and play with my best friend.
what everyone likes best about me; That I’m always smiling and my *creative* problem solving skills.
other favorites (words, songs, tv show, etc); A big fan of Adventure Time and my dog Lexi

Cara, 35 years
best thing about parenting; At this age, being able to really communicate with him, explaining (without baby-talk!) what is happening and why, and knowing he feels comfortable communicating his feelings with me.
hardest part of parenting; As a single parent, he often receives different parenting from his dad or grandmother, so I often feel like I’m having to do a lot of countering and having to play the bad guy. I *really* hate being the bad guy but I have to trust my gut and know it’s best, and hopefully he will appreciate it, in the long run.
advice for other parents; Stay consistent. It’s one of the hardest things for me, but if you have certain rules you feel are important, you must, must, must, be consistent with them. It can suck, but it will pay off.
favorite item from the LHS shop; I love the headbands. Having a boy, even one with long hair most of his life, hair accessories wasn’t something I had to think of very much, although for many years he voluntarily wore my cotton headbands, he loved having his long hair out of his face. I wish LHS was around then!
mama & Baby style philosophy; For me, comfort is number one and it doesn’t have to look sloppy. A comfortable dress is easier to throw on than a pair of jeans and the right one can be as comfortable as yoga pants. I’m also a big believer that a cute pair of inexpensive earrings can go a long way, I don’t leave the house without wearing some, even if I’m still in my PJs. My mom often says “why are you dressed up” when really I just rolled out of bed. Julian is very indifferent to style and would wear whatever is laid out for him. So owning a children’s boutique, it’s very tempting for me to pick out his clothes every day to be a good representation, but at his age, I want him to be self-sufficient in that area so I leave it up to him. That means it’s the first shirt and pants he sees. We’re lucky if they are seasonably appropriate and semi-matching.

Congrats to everyone else who was featured, we’re honored to be listed alongside so many creative and incredible shops! We wanted to make special note of our friend Baby Jives Co, who was also featured; we’re so proud!

We are so over the moon in adoration with Danielle from Sometimes Sweet and her darling boy Henry. When we first started brainstorming for this feature, we knew we just had to feature them!

Henry; 2 years old
Nicknames; so many – Henny, Hennison, the list goes on
favorite toy; I love my toy trains!
what I like to do; I love to snack, run around outside as much as possible, play soccer and football, and do fun art projects!
what everyone likes best about me; my contagious smile.
other favorites (words, songs, tv show, etc); Dumbo, Team Umi Zoomi, Muenster Cheese and crackers, and green smoothies

Danielle; age 30
best thing about parenting; being greeted every single morning with that beautiful smile and “good morning, mama!” I also love being able to see this tiny baby boy grow into the little person he’s going to be. Really amazing.
hardest part of parenting; that it’s a 24/7 job. It’s the hardest yet most rewarding thing I’ve ever done.
advice for other parents; Just go with the flow and do what’s right for you. Don’t put too much stock in parenting books, blogs, or advice. Follow your heart and GUT and do what’s best for your family.
favorite item from the LHS shop; the striped bows! If I ever have a girl…I’m all over those! I also love the gray and white chevron blankets.
Mama & Baby style philosophy; Three words- simple, comfy, and cute.

What better person to kick off this feature than head Hip Squeak Amy R & her adorable babydude Eli?

Eli Augusten; 19 months going on 10 years.

what everyone likes best about me; the long blonde mullet.
other favorites; Despite mom’s best attempts; Elmo.

Amy; 28.
best thing about parenting; Rediscovering everything in life through their eyes. I forgot how amazing Christmas lights were, and we spent HOURS each which driving around our neighborhood ‘oohing’ and ‘ahhing’.
hardest part of parenting; Not spending all your money on them.
advice for other parents; Trust your gut, always. Maternal instinct is real.
favorite item from the LHS shop; The diaper bags. But those are a ‘secret’ until we add them to the shop.
Mama & Baby style philosophy; Living in NYC you learn that literally everything and anything goes together.
